It's a Knockout
Over 100 competitors were able to take part recently, in the annual ‘It’s a Knockout’ sports day, at the Tonbridge Angel Centre,
Organised every year since the early 1990’s by Tonbridge Lions Club; the event enables dozens of mentally and physically disabled to enjoy a fun and games day, and a lunch with the Lions.
On this occasion, over one hundred competitors forming eleven teams (some in wheelchairs) took part, from many organisations around the local area; competing in games that included egg and spoon races; velcro darts; and other reasonably tough but exciting disciplines.
The teams were invited to design and present ‘jokers’ to be used in one of the games. The best (Blooming Carnations, by Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Community Services) being judged by the Mayor, Counsellor Steve Hammond with the president of Tonbridge Lions Club Gordon Hill presenting a trophy for the overall event winner, Aspens.
Tonbridge Lions would welcome any establishment, who feel that they meet the criteria; to join them at the event in 2025. Details will be on the Lions website soon.
