Tonbridge Half Marathon Draws Record Numbers

The 13th annual Tonbridge Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k races took place on a chilly but dry Sunday, attracting nearly 1,500 participants. The event, starting at Judd School, featured picturesque routes through the Kent countryside.

Dame Kelly Holmes, Tonbridge’s Olympic legend, generously kicked off each race and awarded medals to finishers.

Adam Hickley topped the Half Marathon with a time of 1 hour and 5 minutes, while Nicolene Hanekom led the women at 1 hour and 19 minutes.

Established in 2011 by the Tonbridge Lions and Rotary Clubs, the event supports local charities. Now managed by Run Through, with Lions and Rotary volunteers providing vital support, the event continues to grow in popularity.

Thanks go to all the 80+ volunteers who made this event possible… half of whom were Lions, Lions Ladies or partners and friends of Lions. The photos show Dame Kelly addressing the runners at the start of the Half Marathon, the wonderful Lions Ladies team of baggage guardians and Dame Kelly with two volunteer marshals.
