Tonbridge, UK – On Saturday, February 1 st nearly 100 senior citizens from the Tonbridge area gathered for a delightful afternoon of entertainment, food, and fellowship hosted by the Tonbridge Lions at the Angel Centre. As in previous years, the Lions were supported by the dedicated staff of TM Active, who generously provided their facilities and assistance during the setup.

A talented group of young dancers from the Academy of Irish Dance kicked off the festivities with an enchanting display, followed by Lion James Lark performing a selection of popular tunes on his saxophone. Guests were then treated to a performance by Tonbridge School's string quartet, which concluded with a delightful harp solo by one of the students.

As the music played, attendees enjoyed a delicious tea prepared by Lion Lee Athwal and her team, featuring an assortment of sandwiches, cakes, and refreshing drinks. The oldest guest attending, 97- year-old Ron Rogers, was photographed with Tonbridge Lions Club President Phil Jesson and Deputy Mayor Chris Brown.

After tea, the second half of the entertainment was just as lively, featuring Lion Keith Bourne and his ABBA tribute group, who performed ukulele versions of the famous band’s hits. Friend of the Lions Club John Quinton delivered a classic monologue, followed by more performances from Lion Neal, Lion Richard Hill, and their friend Diana Gibb. The event concluded with a rousing sing-a-long led by another friend of the club, Kevin Randall.

Lion Neal Charlesworth, Chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his delight at the success of the event saying: “It gives us all great pleasure to see everyone enjoying the afternoon. It’s a truly heart-warming experience to bring the community together and share such a special time with our senior citizens. Tonbridge Lions are grateful to all those who contributed to making the afternoon a memorable one, including the Angel Centre staff, performers, and volunteers.”
